Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n

This document provides further information for learners on the procedures for examinations at the Tove Leeds.<\/p>\n

Audience<\/strong><\/p>\n

This document applies to learners undertaking Tove Leeds\/NCFE any qualification.<\/p>\n

Scope<\/strong><\/p>\n

This document provides guidance to all students regarding the administrative arrangements for examinations arranged by Tove Leeds.\u00a0 This will include student participation and conduct and items that may be taken into an examination.\u00a0 This document should be read in conjunction with Regulation 7: Assessment Regulations.<\/p>\n

Prior to the Examination:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Candidates are reminded that, should they feel examination adjustments are required to ensure the best possible examination experience, they should speak to the relevant support services as soon as possible.\u00a0 Students are encouraged to seek support early so that the relevant adjustments may be identified and processed prior to the examination.\u00a0 The Exams Assessment and Awards Team will endeavor to take all adjustments into account, but this cannot be guaranteed unless they receive details of the support required at least two weeks in advance of the examination.<\/p>\n

Smoking, including electronic cigarettes, is prohibited on all premises and this includes before, during or after examinations.<\/p>\n

Candidates should arrive at the examination room or location indicated on their registration no later than 15 minutes before the start of an examination, fully prepared to take the examination.\u00a0 Candidates must wait quietly outside until admitted by an invigilator.\u00a0 Candidates may be permitted to join the examination up to fifteen minutes after the examination has started, which means once the invigilator has an announced that candidates may begin writing.<\/p>\n

If a candidate is absent from an examination without good cause, they will be deemed to have failed that examination.\u00a0 It is the responsibility of each candidate to ensure they are aware of the date, time and location of their examination. .<\/p>\n

Candidates must sit in the seat allocated for their particular examination.\u00a0 Candidates must not turn over the examination question paper until they are instructed to do so by the invigilator.<\/p>\n

Candidates must bring their ID Card to an examination as proof of identity and this must remain visible on the examination desk for the duration of the examination. If it is not possible, candidates may provide an alternative proof of identity, including a valid passport or driving licence.\u00a0 If a candidate fails to bring any proof of identity to an examination they will be asked to remain behind at the end of the examination until their identity may be verified.<\/p>\n

The Tove Leeds takes no responsibility for the loss of candidates\u2019 belongings from examination rooms.\u00a0 Candidates are strongly advised to take into the examination room only those items needed to complete the examination (pens, ruler, etc.).\u00a0 Candidates may bring a transparent pencil case or small transparent plastic bag into the examination room.\u00a0 Any personal property that is brought into an examination room (coats, bags, other valuables etc.) must be left in a designated area in the examination room before candidates may proceed to their allocated seat.<\/p>\n

Candidates must not take into an examination room any unauthorised materials, books, manuscripts, revision notes for the examination in question and\/or any other examination that they may be undertaking, or any other means whereby they may improperly obtain assistance in their work, or any bag, case or receptacle, in which such unauthorised articles can be carried.<\/p>\n

Candidates are not permitted to bring mobile or electronic devices to the examination.\u00a0 This may include electronic organisers, mp3 players and iPods, tablets including iPads, mobile phones, watches, glasses with google glass technology and any other portable or wearable technology.\u00a0 If such a device is brought to the examination, it must be switched off completely and placed in a designated area.\u00a0 It may be necessary to immobilise the alarm programme by removing the SIM card and battery from the mobile phone as an extra precaution to avoid the possibility that the alarm will sound during the examination.<\/p>\n

Should an unauthorised electronic device be found on the candidate\u2019s person during the examination, the candidate will be deemed to have committed a breach of assessment regulation.<\/p>\n

Should the candidate temporarily leave the room during the examination, the electronic device must remain in the examination room.\u00a0 Should a candidate be found removing the electronic device from the examination room prior to the end of the examination, the candidate will be deemed to have committed a breach of assessment regulation and will be reported for further action to be taken.<\/p>\n

As a general rule, candidates are not permitted to bring food or drink into the examination room, except for a small packet of sweets (or similar) and a small bottle of water or soft drink.<\/p>\n

Candidates are permitted to use their own electronic calculators in an examination, with the exception of those that have the facility for the full range of alphabetical characters to be input.<\/p>\n

Candidates are permitted to use dual Language dictionaries in an examination whose mother toung is not English.<\/p>\n

During the Examination:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Candidates must not talk to or use any other form of communication with each other during the examinations.\u00a0 Candidates must remain silent at all times during the examination, including whilst answer books are being collected in, and until the examination room has been departed, so as not to disturb any other examinations that may still be on-going.<\/p>\n

Candidates must not indulge in any behaviour which may disturb any other candidate or any form of conduct which may disrupt the smooth progress of an examination.\u00a0 Candidates causing any such disturbance or disruption will be required to leave the examination.<\/p>\n

If a fire alarm should sound during an examination, candidates should follow the instructions given by the invigilator.\u00a0 These will be the standard procedures for evacuating the building.\u00a0 Candidates should leave the room in an orderly way, without talking and without taking anything from their desk, or from the room.\u00a0 Candidates should leave the building and assemble in the designated area.\u00a0 Candidates must not leave the designated area.\u00a0 Candidates should return to the examination room immediately when instructed to do so.\u00a0 Candidates who are still absent once the examination has re-started will not be re-admitted.\u00a0 As a general rule, examinations will not re-start after an interruption if more than three-quarters of the examination has already elapsed.\u00a0 The invigilator will record the time of the fire alarm in all answer books and this will be reflected in the marking of candidates\u2019 papers.<\/p>\n

In cases where candidates feel unwell during an examination and leave the examination room, every effort shall be made to ensure that they receive all necessary pastoral and medical care.<\/p>\n

In cases where candidates feel unwell and leave the examination room temporarily, they should be permitted to return to the examination room<\/p>\n

Should candidates require assistance or additional answer books during the examination, candidates should raise their hand and continue with their work until an invigilator is able to assist.<\/p>\n

Candidates are expected to arrive fully prepared for their examination and are not expected to need to leave the examination room during their examination.<\/p>\n

For examinations lasting less than one hour candidates are not permitted to leave the examination room, except in the event of a medical emergency.\u00a0 Candidates will not be permitted to re-enter the examination room once they have left it.<\/p>\n

For examinations lasting one hour in duration, candidates are not permitted to leave the examination room during the first 30 minutes or last 15 minutes, except in the event of a medical emergency.\u00a0 Candidates will not be permitted to re-enter the examination room once they have left it.<\/p>\n

For examinations lasting more than one hour, candidates are not permitted to leave the examination during the first hour or the last 15 minutes of the examination, except in the event of a medical emergency.\u00a0 Candidates will not be permitted to re-enter the examination room once they have left it.<\/p>\n

Any candidate wishing to leave the examination in an emergency will not be permitted to take any personal belongings with them and will be accompanied by an authorised person.\u00a0 Collection of personal belongings may take place from a designated location after the examination.\u00a0 The location will be advised at the start of the examination.<\/p>\n

After the Examination:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Candidates are required to hand to the invigilator their completed examination scripts, including any rough work \u2013 which should be clearly indicated as such, and to remain seated at the end of the examination until dismissed by the invigilator.<\/p>\n

Candidates are reminded that they must take all personal belongings away with them at the end of the examination.<\/p>\n

Temporary Examination Adjustments:<\/strong><\/p>\n

A student seeking temporary examination adjustments due to illness or temporary disability should lodge a request in advance of the examination concerned as possible and preferably by no later than 4.00pm on the day preceding the examination.<\/p>\n
